Kagamine Rin and Len

Kagamine Rin / Len ( 鏡音リン·レン ) is a Software computer music synthesis sound production Crypton Future Media. The software was released December 27, 2007 as the second series Characteres vocal series follows the success of the first series of Hatsune Miku . Although less in demand than Hatsune Miku, until July 2008, this product has sold 20 000 copies. 

This software requires Vocaloid2 production of Yamaha Corporation. Of pre-recorded sound in the sound library ( voice bank ), lead vocals and backing vocals can be generated by a computer simply by entering the notes and lyrics. The software is named Kagamine Rin / Len since it contains two libraries, a male voice (Len) and female voices (Rin).Kagamine family name, derived from the Kagami (镜, glass) and Ne (音, sound). Sampling male or female voice (Len / Rin) are both derived from the sound Seiyu Asami Shimoda.

As the second series after Hatsune Miku, Crypton Future Media intends to produce local Vocaloid voice teenage girls. But it turns out, a lot of requests to produce the sound of boys. Until the end of Crypton Future media hire voice actress who can produce both sounds. Kagamine Rin is voicebank first developed and marketed the first time on 8 November 2007. However, this package contains two voicebank , one containing the voice Rin, Len, and one containing the sound, both of whom filled in by Seiyu Asami Shimoda. Kagamine Len began to be announced a month later on December 3, 2007. Although it contains two voicebank , when it was first marketed, the software is sold at the same price as Hatsune Miku.

According to Shimoda Asami, Rin and Len's name comes from the right (right) and left (left). When recording, the name does not exist yet. In an interview later on in connection with the release of Kagamine Rin / Len / Append , Shimoda explained that Ken and Rin's name comes from the manga Hokuto no Ken , the names are familiar to him in childhood.

On June 12, 2008, Crypton Future Media announced that the latest version of Kagamine Rin / Len is Act2 which was released earlier in July 2008. Crypton Future media apologize for the bad quality of the first version of Kagamine Rin / Len (act 1). The sound junctions in Act2 becomes more smooth, noise is also lower. Compared to the old version, the new version is set to sing with more ease and accuracy. Most of the data derived from data recorded voice over.  Own an older version that has been signed up until 20 September 2008 are entitled to a new version via the update disc is distributed free of charge. After the update disc is installed, twovoicebank old version still available so users will have four voicebank old / new, both can be used. Act2 was released on July 18, 2008, contains only two voicebanks date.

The new version of Kagamine Rin/Len/Append released December 27,2010,contains 6 voicebanks,3 voicebanks of Rin and 3 voicebanks from Len. Different from the previous version which only contains a vibrant voice, Append version contains nuanced sound sad. Kagamine Rin / Len / Append can not be used in isolation, and can only be installed from the Kagamine Rin / Len Act2.
